Struggling with Substance Use?
Help Us Give Recovery to Someone in Your Community!
Putting the Pieces Together
"Jerry's" story of substance use is all too common: he has a college degree, a good job, and supportive family, but also a history of childhood trauma that was never addressed. Jerry started using prescribed opioids about 10 years ago. After the sudden death of this father, he began a spiral into substance use which ended in an overdose this past summer. Looking for a way to help him, his wife reached out to the Blackstone Valley Connector while he was in treatment.
The BVC coordinated with Northbridge police, his wife, and the hospital while Jerry was in treatment and set up recovery support services at Family Continuity. We are working with other providers to oversee his Medication Assisted Treatment and helping him to address his triggers and past traumas. Through this process, Jerry's commitment to sobriety has grown as the BVC helps him to put all the pieces together to get his life back.
Family Continuity's Blackstone Valley Connector (Connector) works with 5 area police departments to give people struggling with homelessness, substance use, and incarceration a way forward. Connector Recovery Coaches empower individuals in their personal journey towards recovery by offering hope by providing advocacy, guidance, and supportive resources.
Join us all month leadingup to #givingtuesday to support the Connector and our other programs for people struggling with substance use by giving recovery today.
Your donation will directly support communities and people around the
state that are working to combat the realities of substance use that
impact our loved ones, friends, and neighbors.
